When asked what he enjoys most about taking part in athletics he said: “I like the thrill, I like the people you get to meet and the friends you make, and overall the training sessions as it’s a great way to get fit.”

It’s obvious Luke is doing really well and most important of all, is enjoying every minute of it. He is certainly clear about his aspirations for the future: “My dream is to win an Olympic Gold medal!”

The club has high hopes for this young star who is proving a great role model for all those who thought they couldn’t compete because of their learning disabilities. When asked about the facilities at Tipton he replied: “I think the facilities are really good, they have got a lot to offer. They have great coaches and they help the athletes a lot.”

Luke has achieved so much in such a short time and is now regularly winning races and competitions all over the country in his MENCAP disciplines. His greatest achievement so far is making the England team for which Luke and his family are really proud.

Luke aims to follow in the footsteps of his role model Michael Johnson, the retired American sprinted who still holds the world records in the Mens 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay and who has won five gold medals. We are sure Luke will become a great athlete in the future and secure his dream of winning a gold Olympic medal.
