We are a group of young people who are 'looked after' or live in care of the local authority and that meet on a regular voluntary basis. We have developed this group, the 'Looked after young people's board', because we want to be a voice for all young people living in care.

Sandwell Schools Youth Council emerged from the success of the Sandwell Shadow Youth Cabinet.

Sandwell Youth Parliament is a body of all youth councils and forums that exist within Sandwell. They meet together to discuss views and issues that are relevant to them. They also organise a wide range of events and activities for themselves, their peers and organisations that work with young people.

Sandwell’s Town Youth Councils have been established for a number of years to ensure that young people are heard in local decision-making. There are 6 town councils that exist across Sandwell, one in each town.

The Sandwell Active Youth Involvement Team (SAY IT) has recently been established to bring Youth Involvement work within Sandwell under one umbrella. This means that the work of local Youth Councils within each town, the Sandwell Youth Parliament and the work of the Shadow Youth Cabinet will now be managed through the SAY-IT Team.

The Shadow Youth Cabinet are a group made up of 17 young people that have a direct input to the decision making process at the highest level. They have the opportunity to shadow the Councilors who are responsible for the authorities in the eight-theamatic areas.
